		Cured in Place Plastic Pipe Materials Testing K. S. Ware and Associates, L.L.C. (KSWA) was selected by Consoer Townsend Envirodyne Engineers, Inc. (CTE) to develop a Quality Assurance Testing Program for the evaluation of the Cured-in-Place Plastics (CIPP) installed as part of the Metro Services Combined Sewer Overflow Abatement Program. In 1990, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation issued a Commissioner’s Order to Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County to abate the overflow of wastewater from the sanitary sewer system. Since the issuance of this order, over 400,000 feet of underground piping has been replaced, repaired or re-lined. The Cured-In-Place Plastics (CIPP) industry has made advances to the point this method is now extensively used to re-line Nashville’s sewer piping to comply with the order. Product performance can be reduced by lowering the tensile strength, flexural strength and/or flexural modulus of elasticity, and can result in deformation of the liner and ultimately, failure of the liner. An evaluation of these parameters is imperative to optimize product performance and minimize failures. KSWA has developed a Quality Assurance Testing program to evaluate the wall thickness, tensile strength, flexural strength, and modulus of elasticity for the CIPP installations completed for the Overflow Abatement Program. KSWA has provided fast and accurate test data by working closely with CTE Engineers and Metro Water Services. KSWA has provided the Metro Water Services with the ability to insure the CIPP installed meets the ASTM standards for wall thickness, tensile and flexural strength, and modulus of elasticity by providing this data. Over 700 CIPP samples have been tested to date as part of the Metro Water Services CIPP Program.
