Position Description:

This position is for the supervision of construction inspectors in support of large public infrastructure projects, such as new highway and airport construction. It is a supervisory position requiring extensive previous experience and a thorough understanding of heavy construction practices and quality control techniques.

This position will oversee all construction inspectors working for KSWA in middle Tennessee.  This position will also interact often with clients, other KSWA engineers and government agency representatives, such as DOT officials. 

The Supervisor’s direct reports will perform work assignments that typically include:

  • Daily observations of construction activity to determine compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Daily reporting to the on-site resident engineer or construction superintendent to determine compliance or non-compliance with construction.
  • Performance of soils, concrete and asphalt tests in the field.
  • Provide written and verbal communication with technical representatives of the owner, engineer, contractor and enforcement agencies on an as-needed basis.

Experience Required:

Registration as a Professional Engineer with a BS in Civil Engineering is preferred.  Alternately, a minimum of ten years of experience as a field construction inspector, and a two year degree or better, in Construction Technology or a related field, and a minimum of five years of experience in a supervisory position.

Skill Requirements:

The ability to listen to clients and other project-related parties, to perceive needs, and offer potential solutions, is required.  In addition, the ability to directly supervise multiple field personnel providing construction-related services in several locations is required, as well as the ability to positively impact their careers so that they are continually growing and increasing their value to the company and the industry.

Salary Range: Compensation is on a salaried basis (exempt) with bonus opportunities, commensurate with degree, experience and training.
