Job Overview:

K.S. Ware and Associates, L.L.C. (KSWA) is seeking an entry level geologist who will execute field and office duties. 

A candidate in this position will be trained and supervised in the skills necessary to perform various field activities in support of investigations, compliance, sampling, data collection, analysis and report writing.  Many of these activities involve field work and the collection and analysis of subsurface samples and data.  However, as a professional at K.S Ware, other job duties such as Phase 1 site assessments, asbestos inspections, oversight of UST removals, oversight of contaminated soil excavation, air quality sampling, monitoring well installation and sampling will be required. 

The health and safety of our employees is of upmost importance to K.S. Ware and the successful candidate for this position will be given and must past various health and safety classes as well as certifications such as Certified Asbestos Inspector and OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER training. 

Education Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geosciences from a four year accredited college or university is required.

Experience Required:

Preferences:

  • 1-3 years experience
  • Working knowledge of GIS
  • Working knowledge of drafting/CAD software
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Time management and organizational skills highly desired

 

Responsibilities:

At K.S. Ware, technical professionals may be called upon to perform various tasks.  Job duties for a geologist include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the installation and logging of soil borings and rock coring.
  • Assist in the installation of monitoring wells and piezometers and development of the boring and monitoring well logs.
  • Collection of water level data and groundwater samples.
  • Development of contour maps
  • Obtain, analyze and interpret geological, geochemical, geophysical information from sources such as survey data, well logs, boreholes, and aerial photos.
  • Communicate geological and environmental findings by synthesis and analysis of data including notes, samples, photographs and producing timely and high quality reports.
  • Prepare geological maps, cross-sectional diagrams, charts, and reports in support of environmental subsurface investigations, field work and laboratory research.
  • Assess ground and surface water movement in order to provide advice regarding issues such as waste management, route and site selection, and the restoration of contaminated sites.
  • Participate in Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Obtain certification as an Asbestos Inspector and participate in investigation and sampling of bridges and structures.
  • Oversee, sample and document projects involving excavation of contaminated soil.
  • Conduct air quality sampling.
